PROGRAMME AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

Kanchipuram 60 kms west of Chennai city is historically famous and internationally known for its silk sarees. But it engages today at least 10,000 children in weaving and deprives them of their childhood, education and a worthwhile future.

In order to free and prevent kids from these hell holes of child slavery, we conduct regularly.

Campaigns

To conscientise parents of child workers govt officials and the general public through cultural activities, public meetings, posters etc.

Play and Study Centres

Where child workers meet after work hours, play games, learn literacy skills, discuss their problems and future and prepare themselves to join public schools.

Children’s Parliaments

To help children grow up with socio-political and human rights Consciousness.


For Students

  • Kanchipuram Community College (KCC) – to train uneducated youth and school drop-outs in life skills, Technical Trades and Academic University Education.
  • Employment Facilitation.
  • Coaching classes for school final students
KANCHIPURAM COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Due to a felt need for fresh initiatives that would empower the people to face the emerging conditions of total domination by money and market forcesand dwindling employment chances, we started in July 2002, the Kanchipuram Community College(KCC).

KCC envisions to build a society of educated and enlightened personalities; a society with charismatic and committed leaders, a society sans inequalities, and in-justices and where rights of all are respected by all, where freedom and brotherhood are the valued virtues.

For Tribal Development

  • Freeing bonded Irula Tribals from rice mills, stone quarries and brick kilns and rehabilitating them
  • Co-operative Stone Quarry.
  • Co-operative Herbal Plants Nursery and Herbal Dispensary.

Dr. Ambedkar Centre

  • Publishing DALIT MURASU a Prestigious monthly magazine to expose and fight atrocities on Dalits and Tribals.
  • A Library of Books and Documents on Dalit Reality.
